Translation is not a stopwatch conversion
Different languages express an idea using different sentence lengths and rhythms. Even two speakers reading the same translation can take different amounts of time. Do not apply an English speaking-rate preset to every language.
Choose the right counting method
ScriptTimerr uses locale-aware word segmentation for word-based languages and eligible letter/number grapheme clusters in character mode. Punctuation is excluded. Mixed-language scripts may need manual units or a new character-based calibration.
Rehearse the final translation
Calibrate using the same language and material, then rehearse the complete translated script. Numbers, abbreviations and names may be pronounced in different ways, so automated counts remain planning aids.
