A little preparation.
Room for every speaker.
Help students plan a presentation, rehearse at their own pace, and decide what to improve. Start with a shared time limit and a simple activity you can adapt to your class.

Share the time, not the script.
Set the whole presentation slot, then reserve any separate time for a demonstration, questions, or handovers. Each student chooses or measures their own speaking pace.
Ordinary breathing and emphasis are already part of a measured speaking pace. Do not reserve that same time twice.

One idea. Two rehearsals. One useful change.
Example activity: explain one change that would make a familiar place easier to use. Students might choose a clearer library sign, a quieter study area, or a better way to find classroom supplies. Adapt the prompt and length to your learners.
Prepare a clear explanation
Ask students to name the problem, explain one change with an example, and finish with a takeaway. Confirm whether questions are inside the time limit. Use the class presentation guide to plan the sections.
Rehearse in the real conditions
Use the actual notes and visuals. Keep the timer running through normal pauses and planned holds. A personal pace sample can help with planning; the full rehearsal checks the whole delivery.
Change one thing and try again
Note one part that was clear and one part to shorten or explain better. Repeat the full talk after editing. Compare the elapsed times and the clarity of the explanation, without treating speed as a grade.

My rehearsal worksheet
Prepare one clear idea, rehearse it aloud, and choose one useful change.
Total time limit: 5:00 · Separate holds: 1:00 · Spoken delivery allowance: 4:00
1. Prepare
My one main idea:
The example or evidence that helps explain it:
My closing takeaway:
2. Rehearse
Include visuals, normal pauses, handovers, and any planned questions. Use the same conditions on both attempts.
| Attempt | Elapsed time | Where did I need more room? |

| After one change |
3. Reflect
One part a listener could follow clearly:
One thing I changed, and what happened on the second attempt:
Keep preparing
- Plan a five-minute speech with a realistic word budget
- Measure a pace that matches the material
- Understand the calculation and its limits
